The discovery of the massive pre-salt reservoirs in the Santos and Campos basins has allowed Brazil to add nearly 30 Billion barrels of reserves to the country’s tally since 2006. The PETROBRAS Replicants FPSOs project involved the design and construction of a generic topsides for deployment on eight FPSOs for the pre-salt fields, in water depths of over 2,000m. This case study will look at the pre-salt resources, the Replicants project, how the construction was executed and examine the lessons we can learn.

About Our Presenter:

Christopher Merrick is a Consultant Subsea Engineer for DORIS Engineering Australia with a passion for solving technically complex problems. He has 18 years of experience encompasses engineering, project management, asset integrity and operations, most recently having completed 6 years as Senior Subsea Engineer for PTTEP Australia. Chris holds a Bachelor in Computer Science from Edith Cowan (Western Australia), a Masters in Oil and Gas Engineering from UWA (Western Australia), and an MBA from UWA (Western Australia).
