Facilities Group Technical Evening – Optimising Pipeline Inspection Frequency With a Simple Probabilistic Method
April 19, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Optimising Pipeline Inspection Frequency With a Simple Probabilistic Method by Rex Hubbard from Atteris.
The integration of historical flow assurance assessments and corrosion engineering enabled an ageing flowline’s past corrosion condition to be estimated, however the resulting deterministic estimate of pit depths would have required a near-term inline inspection campaign. A simplified probabilistic estimate of historical and future corrosion pitting depths provided an improved understanding of the likelihood of failure and allowed an optimised inline inspection frequency.
About Our Presenter
Rex Hubbard is a chemical engineer with 25 years engineering experience principally in process engineering, flow assurance, subsea systems design and subsea project management. Since 2014 Rex has been a Business Stream Leader with Atteris Pty Ltd, a subsea and pipeline engineering consultancy. In this role he has, amongst other things, managed a number of concept studies, pipeline repair plan revisions, the development of unconventional pipeline repair methods and performed integrated flow assurance & internal corrosion assessments of late-life subsea assets. Rex is currently a Committee Member of the SUT’s Perth Branch.
