Large volumes of methane exist in hydrate reserves around the world. Could these ever be produced economically as a source of fuel? This talk will review the current maturity of the concept and some of the challenges associated with developing these reserves.

About Peter Ryall, Technical Director, Genesis – Peter has a Chemical Engineering background and has 30 years’ experience in upstream oil and gas production.  He currently Technical Director for Genesis in Perth with a focus on early phase development of upstream facilities.  He is currently leading a study investigating the production of methane from hydrate reserves located offshore Japan.
