SPE WA Young Professionals Tech 101: PREPARING AUSTRALIA’S FUTURE OIL AND GAS WORKFORCE
December 16 @ 11:50 am - 1:00 pm| Free
Preparing Australia’s Future Oil and Gas Workforce:
Automation is changing the oil and gas industry. New technologies, such as sensor technology, cloud, analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, are beginning to transform the way the industry operates and also changing the way workers do their jobs. In the future, the ability to use and interpret data will only become more important for oil and gas occupations. And in a highly complex industry as oil and gas is, continuously seeking ways to increase and enhance skills is fundamental to every oil and gas occupation to be successful over a long career.
NERA, one of Australia’s most reputable energy resources industry bod, have designed a scenario-planning tool which seeks to map the potential trajectory of the oil and gas workforce in Australia in the years ahead, so that companies, workers and policy makers can make informed decisions and prepare for a volatile future.
Francis is NERA (National Energy Resources Australia) General Manager, Innovation and Strategy. His responsibilities include monitoring emerging developments in the energy resources sector, overseeing a number of projects and research activities NERA is engaged with, and working across the sector to identify and address challenges.
Prior to joining NERA in 2016 Francis had an extensive international engineering career, working on a range of process intensive resource projects in the UK, Brazil, South Korea, India, Germany and Norway. He was the 2015 WA division President for Engineers Australia and continues to be engaged in a senior office bearer position. He is a Fellow and Engineering Executive with Engineers Australia, as well as a member of ICCPM and AICD.
