The Society of Petroleum Engineers and Curtin University’s Oil & Gas Innovation Centre are proud to launch the 2019 Upstream Oil & Gas Data Science Seminar.
This Seminar will take place over 2 days in April, and is supported by NERA, PetroAus and the WA Data Science Innovation Hub. Unlike other events, this seminar will focus solely on the getting started with the practical application of data science to upstream use-cases – with a range of presentations from Data Science practitioners across industry, service providers and academia. The focus is on learning skills that you can bring to your job.
Day 1 of the seminar will focus on fundamentals of getting started with data science including tools and data quality before launching in to example use-cases and applications.
For Day 2 we are bringing to Perth Alfonso Reyes, a leading Petroleum Engineer and Data Science practitioner. This will be a hands-on session where attendees are encouraged to bring along their laptops and get acquainted with popular Python and R based data science tools and work on real oil & gas data sets.
The agenda for both days of the seminar is being continuously enhanced as speaker availability is confirmed, but the latest version can be found here: SPE Seminar Agenda
