How do we know what is going on down there whilst we are drilling? Duncan Barneveld has the answers!

Duncan Barneveld has been the Technical Advisor for Drilling Software for Halliburton’s Landmark group for the last year. Duncan has an HND in Mechanical Engineering from Robert Gordon’s University in Aberdeen, Scotland. After graduation (1998) he joined Halliburton’s Drilling group Sperry Drilling in Aberdeen as a Full-Time Technical Professional Well Designer. After 2 years in Aberdeen Duncan spent the next 14 ½ years working for Sperry Drilling around the globe looking after Well Planning & Survey Management operations as the Department Lead Well Design Engineer based in Sultanate of Oman (3 ½ years), Brunei Darussalam (1 ½ yrs), Indonesia (3 years), New Zealand (3 yrs), Australia (2 yrs) & USA (1 ½ yrs). Throughout that time Duncan worked closely with Directional Drilling Coordinators, Drilling Engineers, Well Engineers, Geologist & Petro-Physicists from a variety of countries and cultures. His experience is across the board in Oil, Gas, Shale & Geothermal Wells, with single, sidetrack, multi to ten lateral trajectories designs in Deep Water Scenarios, Off-Shore, Onshore, in Unconventional Resources and amateur fields. In addition to planning Wells and supporting Drilling Operations he was also responsible for the hiring and training of local staff to a level that the Oman, Brunei & Indonesia departments are now locally run. In November 2014 Duncan agreed to join Landmark Australia and is now based here in Perth looking after and promoting all drilling software in Australasia and throughout Asia when required.
