Unlike their oil counterparts, the optimization of gas fields is a matter of providing the right quantity of the right quality product at the right time. An optimized gas field requires careful planning to ensure production levels that satisfy existing contracts. For this reason, it’s in the operator’s best interest to find efficient ways of extending the production plateau to prolong the life of the field and maximize returns. In this presentation we will see how to utilize optimization algorithms together with advanced reservoir simulation techniques to help us select the most efficient field development strategy and extend the production plateau of a field.

Speaker:  Andres Bracho, Reservoir Engineer, Rock Fluid Dynamics

Andres Bracho is a young professional working as an engineer at Rock Flow Dynamics in Perth. He is experienced in reservoir simulation, integrated asset modelling, and commercial gas operations in Australia. Andres has a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Western Australia and a master’s degree from Curtin University. His primary focus is on finding interesting applications to well established reservoir engineering techniques to improve existing workflows.
