About the Presentation
NERA established the Centre Of Decommissioning Australia (CODA) in early 2021 in collaboration with the industry. CODA has been set up to work across the entire decommissioning value chain, assisting operators to identify and access new technologies and global best practices, providing the service sector with visibility of the upcoming scale and timing of potential decommissioning activity and supporting the efforts of governments in enabling local execution of work.
The Australian decommissioning journey is still in its infancy. We have the opportunity to learn from others experiences and set ourselves up for the best possible outcomes. CODA’s vision is for Australia to be undertaking world-class decommissioning activities, using global best practices and technologies to execute work safely and with the maximum of removed equipment being recycled as possible.
About the Speaker – Francis Norman
Dr Francis Norman is a highly experienced strategic leader. His role of General Manager Decommission and Strategy is informed by over 40 years of experience in resource project engineering and business leadership. For the past 5 years, he has helped lead NERA’s work in supporting companies to translate their ideas into business offerings for the energy sector, working with researchers, the service sector, producers and government to build relationships and grow the Australian economy.
A former WA division President for Engineers Australia, he holds an MSc in project management and a PhD in management.
