Facilities Group Technical Evening – Optimising Pipeline Inspection Frequency With a Simple Probabilistic Method

April 19, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

1

Optimising Pipeline Inspection Frequency With a Simple Probabilistic Method by Rex Hubbard from Atteris.

The integration of historical flow assurance assessments and corrosion engineering enabled an ageing flowline’s past corrosion condition to be estimated, however the resulting deterministic estimate of pit depths would have required a near-term inline inspection campaign. A simplified probabilistic estimate of historical and future corrosion pitting depths provided an improved understanding of the likelihood of failure and allowed an optimised inline inspection frequency.
