Jaap’s talk will provide a review of the past 50 years of Oil &Gas exploration in Australia. A review of the early 60’s aggressive drilling campaigns to boom times in the late 2000’, from focus onshore oil exploration to an offshore gas exploration campaigns as well going through tough times in the 70’s and the different oil prices cycles.
Jaap’s views as a Past Federal President and a Distinguished member as how these events shaped the Oil & Gas industry in Australia and how they impacted on PESA since its creation to what it is now. What the society has contributed to the industry in terms of education through the symposium’s technical talks, technical courses, magazine, journals, scholarships, support for the community school education and charity are a good way to appreciated our industry and saw the resilience that has characterised over the last half of century.
