Society of Petroleum Engineers Western Australia is proud to announce that the September 2025 evening meeting will be our Season Opening Event.
Colin Beckett AO and Life Member of SPE will be the special guest speaker. This event will also include scholarship presentations to Timor-Leste students.
About the Speaker
Colin was born and educated in the UK. He obtained a Masters in Engineering from Cambridge and commenced a career in the Oil and Gas industry with BP London. In1988, he moved to Australia working for BP, Mobil and then Chevron, where he was responsible for the development of the Gorgon LNG and domestic gas project.
Colin left Chevron in 2014 to assume a board career. He is an emeritus Chancellor of Curtin University. He is past Chairman of Perth Airport Pty Ltd and of Western Power and past Deputy Chair and Chair of Remuneration and Nomination committee of Beach Energy.
He took a sabbatical in 2023 to spend time with family in the UK, Canada and Australia. The sabbatical transitioned into retirement.
In 2022 Colin was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service in the energy, gas and oil production and infrastructure sectors, and to tertiary education. Colin is a Life Member of SPE.
