About the Presentation

In this presentation, https://www.spe-wa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nopsema2-1.png will share career experiences that have shaped how he understands what it means to be an effective contributor in organisations.

Building on his recent experience helping major resource companies with their digital transformation ambitions, https://www.spe-wa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nopsema2-1.png will first discuss the opportunities offered by cutting-edge technology. He will then share an example of “textbook” project delivery and how this can be improved upon, the necessity of change leadership and the key role of people skills in achieving objectives. He will also discuss risks around “step change” initiatives and the hazards of ego-driven Leadership. He will then discuss this in relation to complex adaptive systems and how Systems Thinking approaches can help you to be effective in large organisations.

Finally he will share 10 observations that may help you in your career journey.

Fluent in business process, production operations and Information Technology management, https://www.spe-wa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nopsema2-1.png has helped organisations to leverage digital technologies, renew business and operating models, and realise organisational renewal. His previous clients include BHP, Chevron, Woodside, INPEX, Santos and Petronas.

https://www.spe-wa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nopsema2-1.png currently runs an independent consulting company, RightTime Technologies, that helps business to realise the opportunities offered by Digital Transformation. He is the current Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Western Australia, a former Board member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation WA and in 2019 was Co-Chair of the SPE Asia Pacific Digital Week held in Kuala Lumpur.

https://www.spe-wa.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nopsema2-1.png holds a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Commerce from the University of Western Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from Curtin University, and has recently completed his MBA studies at the University of Western Australia. He lives in Perth, Western Australia with his wife Suzanne and children, Emma and Len.
