Geosteering is the intentional directional control of a wellbore based on the results of downhole geological logging measurements rather than three-dimensional targets in space, usually to keep a directional wellbore within a pay zone. This Geosteering 101 technical series describes broadly the “why” and “how” of geosteering and the reasons we need to geo-steer and will detail the technology advancements that is making this process a lot easier.
Presenter Bio: Huw Hughes – Jones is currently the LWD Technical Advisor and Asia Pacific geosteering coordinator for Sperry Drilling. He supports all geosteering work within the region and has held this position since 2006. Huw started in the oil industry in 1995 and has worked in various field and office positions for Sperry Drilling during that time. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Geology from the University of Leicester, UK
