The Talk

Energy is an indispensable commodity for modern civilisation and buildings consume more than 40% of energy and emit a third of GHG emissions. Increasing energy efficiency, generation and on-site storage in cities will be significant drivers for achieving net zero targets.  This talk will discuss case studies from the Asia Pacific on solar PV energy in buildings. A simulation platform for estimating solar potential from buildings and cities will be presented. Combining geo-spatial, weather and urban datasets with solar irradiance estimation, results from the case studies at building, local neighbourhood and urban scale will be presented. The potentials and barriers for bottom-up aggregation of local energy systems will be discussed
