SPE WA Technical Luncheon – Rigless Well Abandonment – A Case Study

Originally from Aberdeen, Kevin began his career in the oil and gas industry back in 1989, when he joined Expro in Aberdeen in the Well Intervention department.

Nearly 30 years later he has worked for both service companies and operators, across a range of well intervention, well services and completions roles. This includes on a range of large scale projects in all aspects of development, ranging from remote land operations in Northern China, through to offshore unmanned jacket platforms in the Gulf of Thailand and deep-water projects in the GOM and South China Sea. Kevin’s career has taken him internationally, latterly to China, where he joined Expro as Country Manager, responsible major projects including the Husky Liwan deep-water project.  This included a strong focus on taking new products to market, In particular the introduction of the Deepwater Electro Hydraulic Subsea Landing string to China.

After 8 years spent in Asia, Kevin returned to the UK to lead Business Development for the global well intervention product line in which he was responsible for the First Deepwater intervention job in GOM, as well as the introduction of the first Combination slick-line/E-line packages into Alaska.  After 4 years he was approached to lead Expro’s new global well abandonment offering, which was launched in early 2016.  This includes a key focus on low-cost rigless intervention techniques, providing bespoke solutions to meet specific clients’ needs.

In late 2016 Kevin was appointed Board Member for Decom North Sea, for Subsea & Wells.
