Getting ‘More for Less’ – Making Not Normally Manned Facilities Work

Many operators around the world are looking at applying new technologies to allow offshore facilities to operate unmanned.  This strategy can potentially provide a step change in safety and significantly reduce operating costs.  The Angel development on the NWS provides a good example of what can be done.  Recent technological advances potentially enable this benchmark to be extended to a greater number of developments, more remote locations and more complex processing arrangements.

andrew About the presenter: Andrew Gifford is the Regional Director of Granherne in APAC.  He has over 25 years of process engineering and development engineering experience.  Andrew held the Lead Process engineering role on the Angel Development from the concept stages through to completion of detailed design, giving him huge insights into the issues of NNM facilities and how to make these successful.  More recently he has been involved in extending the lessons learned to more complex NNM facilities not only in Australia but in other global locations as the oil price fluctuations have challenged operators to be more productive in a leaner environment .
