About the Presentation
In 2023 Metgasco and its partners will deliver two new gas sources to the undersupplied East Coast Gas market. First gas production in February CY23 from the Vali field in the Cooper Basin was a significant milestone for Metgasco and achieved our goal of pivoting from being an explorer to becoming a gas producer and delivering Metgasco’s maiden revenue. The nearby Odin gas field is anticipated to start production via the Vali facilities in Q3 CY23 . In 2023 Metgasco and its partners will deliver two new gas sources to the undersupplied East Coast Gas market.
This presentation describes the key sub-surface and commercial catalysts which delivered a staged process of value creation by Metgasco, from the initial gazettal application in 2016 for the ATP2021 permit , technical appraisal, farm-out (ATP2021) and farm-in (PRL211) deals and, with our partners, delivering 100% success from four exploration and appraisal drilling program during CY20 & CY21. The presentation will provide an overview of how the joint venture unlocked the gas productivity from the low permeability Permian (Patchawarra) reservoir in Vali-1 which helped the decision to proceed with the Vali field commercialisation, delivering discovery to revenue generation in approximately three years.
About the Speaker – Ken Aitken
Ken holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University and has over 35 years of international and domestic experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas developments in technical, leadership and executive roles. Ken is a petroleum engineer who spent the early phase of his career working in the North Sea (UK and Norway) and SE Asia before emigrating to Australia in 1998. Ken has significant experience in sub-surface engineering, asset valuation, exploration, field development and the management and optimisation of production assets .
Mr. Aitken’s prior roles include Origin Energy Limited, Hess Corporation, Enterprise Oil, Apache Corporation, New Standard Energy Ltd and Empire Oil and Gas NL, including as Asset Manager, Reservoir Development Manager, Chief Petroleum Engineer, General Manager Operations and Engineering, and CEO.
About Metgasco
Metgasco Ltd (ASX: MEL) is an oil and gas exploration and production company supplying gas to eastern Australia domestic energy users from the Cooper Basin, Australia. The company owns a 25% non -operated interest in the Vali and Odin gas fields. Marketing of the largely uncontracted gas from these fields is expected to underpin ongoing field development to maximise gas production via the Vali/Odin hub .
Metgasco Strategy is pursuing additional resources through the appraisal and future exploration in its current acreage in the Cooper basin as well as seeking to expand its asset footprint via new exploration and production opportunities in onshore Australian basins.
